At Riara Tea Tours, we are proud to cultivate a deep appreciation for Kenya’s tea legacy. Recently, we collaborated with Braeburn Garden Estate to teach Year Four students about the art and science of tea farming—one of Kenya’s greatest exports.
A Hands-On Tea Experience
Students had the unique opportunity to:
- Learn the process of growing, picking, and sorting tea leaves.
- Participate in practical demonstrations of tea farming techniques.
- Understand what happens to tea leaves in the factory before they reach global markets.
This hands-on experience gave the young learners valuable insights into tea production while sparking curiosity and enthusiasm.
Tea Tasting: Discovering Flavors and Preferences
The highlight of the seminar was an engaging tea-tasting session, where students:
- Sampled various grades of tea.
- Selected their favorite tea grade and explained their preferences.
- Explored the cultural and historical significance of different tea grades.
This immersive activity helped them connect with tea as more than a product—it became a story of history, culture, and craftsmanship.
Encouraging Tomorrow’s Farmers and Connoisseurs
We believe in fostering a love for tea farming and appreciation for its global impact. By connecting students to the rich heritage of Kenyan tea, we aim to nurture future generations who will cherish and uphold this tradition.
